Daisy Paintings

February 22, 2010 By Colleen Jorgenson 6 Comments

I guess I’m really ready for Spring because it seems everything I’m painting lately has a daisy in it. They’re so fresh and bright and just make me happy.

As I written previously, I’m striving in my artwork to paint faster and more loosely. I can easily take weeks to paint one simple flower. Not because I’m so judgmental about the appearance – mainly because it is just so fun to watch the flow of paint. It’s truly meditative for me. I highly recommend it!

First I want to share with you two daisies I just painted.

First I just painted it – quickly. Then I added some shading with pastels and finally detailing with felt pens. Kind of whimsical, don’t you think?

And a purple daisy. Same technique. Loose and fluid. Very different from how I used to paint.
Here are some samples of flowers painted in years gone by.

Sunflowers

Geraniums

Pansies

These were all done on watercolor paper.

Now that Spring is almost upon us, tell me, would you use painted flowers to decorate your home? Which ones? Maybe on a side table, or a window valance?

And as a feng shui note – flowers are a Wood element. The color adds another element layer, too. If you’re looking to add some Personal Growth into your home, consider botanicals.

One more question: would you be willing to try one of my paint kits? Yes, I need some ‘testers’.

I’m linking up to the wonderful parties. Drop by and check out other fun Spring projects.

WOW..big difference in your paint styles but I LOVE them both. I really like the purple daisy..but then I love just about anything PURPLE!! (Does that mean I’m getting old!!)

Be a tester????? What do we have to do…it’s sounds VERY interesting!!!

    Hugs,

I always prefer the loosey goosey style! It shows YOUR style. I am a painter too. Come on by and see. So fun to meet a fellow painter.

Just found this post. I love the purple daisy! Oh, now I have another idea for my daughter’s room. Still need testers for your paint kits? I realize this post is from ages ago, but if you need testers, just let me know. Love your tutorials.
