Daily Inspiration –
Thoughts become things. Choose good ones!
I am a lamp fiend. I first developed my fetish when I managed a little Home & Garden store where our displays were armoires, pine bookcases & old tables. We carried a few lines of little lamps, but they weren’t selling. Once we put a lightbulb in some of them, moved them all over the store and switched them on, the lamps sold as well as the merchandise surrounding them.
It was then I saw the power of little lamps. I love them all over the house – in the kitchen, on a bookshelf – anywhere I want to add just a little ambient light.
So I wasn’t too surprised to find creative bloggers who have decorated their lampshades. They’re great projects for an afternoon!
My thought was to do sort of a ‘reverse’ stencil, even though I didn’t use a stencil. (Me & stencils don’t get along too well.) I like the watercolor effect of the reverse. Now that I’ve shown you this, I guess I might as well finish it!
Sherry & her partner @ CreationsFromMyHeat took these little cuties, added some paint and some trim and created these beauties!
Oooh, I’d love this next to my bed, but don’t think Hubs would appreciate the beauty. Still, isn’t it just spectacular?
And last, but certainly not least, Gina @ TheShabbyChicCottage made a Pottery Barn-inspired lampshade. A little paint, a rubber stamp and Voila! I swear, she should win an award for best PB knock-offs! If you haven’t visited her, go check out all of her great projects! Plus, she has a great linky party today – don’t miss it!
So whether it’s paint, fabric, or a pillowcase, you can decorate a plain ol’ lampshade and make it something to treasure!
