Last one. Now you’ll have 3 fall leaves, which hopefully is enough to paint a little collection.
Let’s see – you could paint some on a table runner. Or a welcome banner for your entryway. Or maybe a throw pillow. How about little placecards for your guests at Thanksgiving?
Don’t trust yourself painting directly onto fabric yet? Just paint it on watercolor paper first. You can add as many paint layers as you want. (Just remember – you probably won’t ever be 100% happy with it so just Go With It!) Take a picture and upload it to your computer. Then print it off onto iron-on transfer paper.
It’ll work. Try it! I think you’ll surprise yourself – and everyone else!
Start by painting the skeleton first. (Thanks, Regi, for telling me what it was called!) Note how on this leaf the veins all come from one central point.
Then add the outline. Notice how in between each point there is a little swoop? That’s why I do the outline first – it can be a little tricky.
Basecoat with a spicy orange. Or regular orange. Or any other color, actually.
Topcoat with yellow/gold. Or you can mix the orange with the gold and apply the mixture together. By now, you should have the hang of this. Or add a 3rd color. You get to choose!
I hope you’ve had some fun with these 3 fall leaves. I’d love to see some pictures of your work!
