Every so often, my BBFFs (best bloggy friends forever) get together for a group post. A post where each of us shares something in a particular theme and then we group all of our projects from years’ past too. This time we chose Patriotic Crafts and Recipes.
Perfect since Summer is nearly here, right?
At first, I thought I’d throw together a fun craft that I could use to decorate my porch. I love using patriotic colors for summer decorating. But then I looked at my porch. And I realized it needed a whole lot more than one simple craft.
It needs a complete overhaul.
Have you heard the saying, “Ain’t nobody got time for that”? Yeah, well, I’ll make time . . . eventually. In the meantime I decided I could still have a patriotic porch.
I just painted it!
Vintage red chairs with comfy pillows (trust me, they’re comfy), tons of red geraniums, of course a hanging porch swing, a little USA banner for the door and Kitty Cat supervising the entire scene.
Or a small dog. Drawing an animal that’s only 1 inch tall is tougher than I thought.
Anyway, I’m sure you all have your summer decorations up already. Right? Even so, you still might like to print off this Patriotic Porch for a little extra red, white and blue cheer on a wall or table somewhere.
You could even print it on watercolor paper and paint it yourself!
Click the photo or here to download.
But if you don’t want to paint it, just download this one here.
If you want to add your own patriotic message, download this printable without it.
There! Now I have at least one porch all decked out for the summer. If only the real one could be done as quickly.
I just bet my BBFFs have some great patriotic projects for your porch and inside the house too. I can’t wait to check them all out! And don’t miss all of the great recipes below the crafts!
Happy Summer!

Thank you, Colleen! Such a cute porch. I love your red chairs and the banner on the door

Thanks Laura! There’s a chance I might start painting house portraits. But I’d like them to be a bit more whimsical. That is, if I can control my OCDishness.
And that’s a big IF. lol.

Colleen, I want to be you! I love the porch! But then you are so talented to begin with. I want to learn to draw like you do. Any suggestions?
Colleen says
Aw, Debbie, thank you. You’re so sweet.
You know, I’ve been sketching my whole life and never took a class. But lately I’ve been poking around YouTube. There are some fabulous drawing tutorial on there. Start there. You might find some classes locally too, maybe a community college? I haven’t done any drawing tutorials because, frankly, I don’t know what I’m doing. I draw/erase/draw/erase until it looks about right. But I love the whole process!
I hope you find something you like! Thanks again.
