This is a quick post, just to say hi and hope you had a Happy Easter, and I also wanted to share these peony patterns I drew over the weekend.
As those of you who visit regularly know, I’ve been on a photography rampage lately, snapping pics of all of the spring flowers that are popping up in my yard.
Peonies, however, are not one of those flowers.
I saw a painting of peonies the other day on a fellow blogger’s Instagram feed and got inspired to give them another try.
The last time I painted them was 3 years ago . . . on a wall . . . a few inches above the room’s baseboard.
Meaning: I was nearly laying on my tummy while painting them. Not the best posture.
Not to mention the fact that I’d never painted them . . . ever. But the homeowner loved peonies and was under the impression that I could paint nearly anything and she printed one off with more trust than I had in my abilities.
Painting on watercolor paper while standing (or sitting) puts a whole new light on things, lemme tell you.
I think the Peonies in Jar might make a nice Mother’s Day print and I’m going soft with a watercolor effect.
I’ll share in a day or so.
In the meantime, if you’d like to paint some peonies along with me (or maybe let your kids color the pattern) here’s the link to download the pattern.
You know, it’s kind of hard to believe that Mother’s Day is right around the corner this year. Even though flowers are fun to paint any time (in my opinion), I’ll do my best to get some tutorials up.
Someone mentioned violets? And how about lavender?
The list goes on and on, doesn’t it? Lucky for us.
Have a good week!

Peony pattern still won’t load. Drop box says it’s empty.
Colleen says
Hi Marilyn, I just reloaded it. It should be working. It is for me but I’m wondering it there’s a problem on Dropbox’ end. If you can’t download it now, let me know and I’ll ask them to check it out.
Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for your efforts! I just discovered you on YT and was surprised you offer your patterns for FREE yay! I am a long time crafter just recently attracted to mixed media watercoloring and acrylic painting, but feel overwhelmed because in order to paint you have to draw! Your patterns and videos really have me excited and I will be printing many of them to get started painting. You have such helpful videos I can tell I will spending tons of time watching and learning. Very appreciated, thank you so much!

Hi Nichole, I’m glad you found me! I really need to make some more videos and plan on it soon.
Have fun!
