It’s a Dog’s Life – Dog Portraits

December 19, 2009 By Colleen Jorgenson 24 Comments

When I started this blog, my goal was to write about my art and works-in-progress. I’m trying to get back on track now that Christmas decorating is done.
One of my new projects is a portrait for my nephew and his girlfriend. He plays for the Atlanta Falcons. (yes, I’m a proud auntie! )
thomas
This is their darling furbaby, Sir Lester.

I want it to be a surprise and I got this picture off of FB. What a face! Hope I can capture that expression.
Here are some other wonderful dogs I’ve painted with photos and my portraits of them.
Uzi

Sadie – my Mom’s doggy.

L’il Mo – my own ‘puppy’. I painted this when he was 6 mos. old. He’s now 10.

And Roxie. I don’t have the pics I painted her from, tho. And, yes, her ‘Dad’ is a fireman!

Roxie is actually part of a ‘faux’ fireman’s hole. The station is only one story and they commissioned me to paint this. I painted it on canvas, applied it with wallpaper paste, and then they put the brass pole up.

I’ll let you know how it goes with Lester. I’ll try and take step by step pics. For me, that’s a little bit like performing in a bikini, ewww! My artwork doesn’t look too good until it’s finished, but I’ll grin and bear it.

OMG what beautiful pet portraits! I have gotten my little Tinkerbells professinal pictures taken, but I have always wanted a painting done of her. If you are ever interested in advertising space, or a sponsored post in exchange for a portrait of my little girl let me know!

Those are amazing poochie portraits! I love the one where you put the two pictures together in one portrait- very cool for two doggie friends that you could never get to look at the camera simultaneously.
