Storybook Castle – Mural on Canvas

April 5, 2010 By Colleen Jorgenson 1 Comment

You know that old adage, “the more things change, the more they stay the same”? It seems to hold true with decorating, especially little one’s rooms. Little girls still love princesses & fairies, and little boys love trucks & transportation – things that move.
So I painted another castle, this one on a large 52” x 40” hanging canvas.

Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the rod. But I just used a large dowel, painted it white and screwed on wooden finials. I’ll have to take a picture before I post it on Etsy.

I made the banners & flags purple just because nearly every little girl I know LOVES purple! When the piece has a new owner, I’ll add her initals to the banners.

The border is just a loose scroll with ivy & pink flowers wrapped around it. If you look at the top of this pic, you’ll see the stitching of the upper casing, which holds the rod.
I also put a casing on the bottom and another dowel inside because of the size of the piece. The weight of the dowel holds the canvas straight.
I’ll let you know when it’s available in my Etsy shop. If you’re interested in this, or a piece like this, just email me. For now, I’m linking up to these great parties.

Have a wonderful Monday!
Colleen
