Boy, does it seem like I’ll I’ve been posting lately are coloring pages and pet portraits? There’s a good reason for that.
That’s pretty much all I’ve been doing!
Actually I pulled this butterfly doodle coloring page out of a stack of stuff I did last year. I’d just learned about Zenspirations, my brother was sick (and dying but we didn’t know that then) and I needed something to do that was relaxing and stressfree. Funny, when he was sick a few years ago I doodled a lampshade but didn’t make the connection until just now.
You’d think simply painting would be relaxing – and it is – but when it’s your “job” then not so much. But doodling? And coloring it in? Oh, it’s wonderful. Your mind just wanders to no particular place and before you realize it, you’re relaxed.
Which is why I’ve committed to creating a full coloring book. Adult coloring books have become hugely popular lately but that’s not the only reason I’m doing it – I know firsthand how relaxing and fun it is to color, however I wanted people to be able to color or paint my coloring pages. I finally found a way to accomplish that, but more later.
Butterfly Doodle Coloring Page
Click on the link or the photo to get the high resolution printable. It’s an 8 x 10, just set your printer to print on landscape (sideways), if you want it that large.
When I drew the butterfly it was much smaller than 8 x 10 but I still had fun coloring it in with gel pens. When I enlarged it for this post I got a good giggle at all the imperfections. But that’s what’s fun about coloring – it really doesn’t matter how it turns out. It’s all about the “doing”.
Kinda like the joy is in the journey, not the destination.
Have fun!
Colleen
