My Disney projects continue! I actually haven’t finished this, but I wanted to share my progress.
This mural is being painted on the backside of a closet door. Why the backside? Because the picture below was painted on the front.
I painted this a few years ago when the room was decorated in Classic Pooh. But the little girl is now 5 and is totally into Tatiana, from Disney’s Princess & the Frog. They wanted to keep the Pooh painting so we just flipped the door to the other side.
Here are the pictures they gave me of Princess Tatiana. They want this dress and pose –
The green in her dress matches the wall color in the bedroom.
And they want this background with a few of the characters – the frog, especially.
The trick is taking this horizontal picture and fitting it on to a vertical closet door.
The first step was to paint the background sky & water.
The sky is just blue with white added. The water is turquoise – a mix of blue & green.
The water looks bluer than it is in person, but you get the idea. I just took a 2” paintbrush and went side to side.
The next background layer is the buildings on the bayou and the trees & moss.
And this is where I am so far. I still need to add flowers to her dress, paint the frog and the other characters. But it’s kind of fun to see things in progress, don’t you think?
