Easter Painting Tutorials

April 14, 2011 By Colleen Jorgenson Leave a Comment

Yes, I do realize that Easter is next weekend. Less than 2 weeks away. Why do you ask?

What? You mean you don’t wait ‘til the last minute to start projects?!?

Okay, for those of you who already have your houses decorated for spring, your Easter brunch planned, and all the goodies bought to fill the baskets – you all can still use some of these tutorials for Mother’s Day.

The rest of us? Hey, two weeks is plenty of time to slap some paint on paper or canvas, take a picture, upload it to the computer, print it off and make all kinds of projects –

  • greeting cards
  • table runners
  • Welcome banners

etc., etc., etc.

Oh, that’s right. I haven’t done any projects showing you how to take one painting and make a bunch of decorative stuff, have I?

I need to. Once you see how easy it is and how many things you can make from one painting, I just know you’ll be grabbing your paintbrush.

I just know it!

And, AND!!! Did you know you can combine the painting tutorials to make different paintings?

Take the purple bunny at the top of this post and add, say, the yellow tulips, and you get this . . .

Alright, so I did this in Photoshop, but I am designing most of my painting tutorials so they’ll work together – mix & match.

Like Garanimals!

I had to google Garanimals to make sure they still made them! I always thought the concept of mix and matching clothes was so brilliant – even though I didn’t have kids when the line first came out.

And my stepsons were too old for them when they moved in with me.

And my grandson is usually decked out in Nike – thanks to my NFL-playin’ nephew – or Spiderman. Hey, he’s 3!

As usual, I digress. The whole idea of my painting tutorials is for you to mix and match them to create your own painting. So I guess I better get busy and do some more containers and ribbons, and backgrounds, and borders, and . . . . whew!

For now, we still have almost 2 weeks to paint a flower or bunny before Easter Sunday.

Of course, if we paint some flowers for Easter, we could also use the painting as a gift for Mother’s Day too.

{I won’t tell if you won’t.}
