Anticipation – More Painting Ideas for Baby Girls Nursery

Hi Colleen . . . is it ready yet?

I love getting that phone call from a client.

I also hate getting that phone call from a client.

Anticipation – it’s a double-edged sword, full of eagerness and dread.

I was eager to detail this painting with my Sharpie because it’s the last thing I do and it means I’m almost finished.

But I was dreading making a mistake.

Marker mistakes are a wee bit harder to camouflage than paint.

Just a wee bit.

So far so good, though. And now you can ‘see’ the animals a lot more clearly.

I didn’t put either scroll pattern on the sample.

More anticipation . . . which one will they like? Will they even like the baroque . . .

. . . or the more contemporary one?

And if they do, will the painting look too busy with scrolls on it?

With the main sample at a point where I can show the clients, I needed to work on some elements for the walls.

We’re thinking about putting little touches along the baseboard of the room.

Fairies . . .

. . . and bunnies.

More anticipation.

I mean, there are fairies and then there are fairies. I’m trying to anticipate which ones the clients will like.

I have no idea. But it was fun painting these little gals and I think I might paint some more just for fun.

Here’s the thing about anticipation – when I was a kid there was always something to look forward to. Games. Dances. And, okay, boys.

Even as a young adult there were things to look forward to. Games. Dancing. A different man than the first one Winking smile.

Then there’s all the stuff that comes with having kids. Games. Dances. Being very happy with one man and not having to anticipate if he’s the one.

And then the kids are grown. Games are now on TV. Dance is on TV. (Whoo hoo for the new season of So You Think You Can Dance!) Life can become a little routine. A little complacent. A little lacking in anticipation.

So I’ll take the double-edged sword that comes with anticipating if the clients will like my painting ideas for their baby girl’s room. While it can be a little nerve-wracking – waiting, wondering if I get it right and they’re happy, it’s a wonderful feeling. Worth the anticipation.

Definitely something to look forward to.
